Heavy Recovery

Our DAF is fitted with a Zacklift and a Garwood winch, both the lift and winch are rated at 10 tons each. The truck has the added benefit of wheel grids it makes light work of recovering the islands modern bus and coach fleets as well as recovering various commercial vehicles that require to be lifted from the wheels or axle.

We have lifted many things in our time - even a classic fire engine!

This wagon loaded with ground came to an emergency stop by mounting a bank on one of the Island's hills.

Wedged under the front of the cab were the remains of a lamp-post, requiring the electricity supply to the hill be isolated before recovery could commence.

As the casualty truck was traveling down the hill when it hit the bank, and therefore had to be winched up-hill to free it, in the interests of health and safety two heavy recovery trucks were utilised.

The recovery of this accident damaged bus from the wheels was made easy with the Zacklift lift fitted to the rear of our Daf.  The lift has a 12 foot reach and when fully retracted can lift 10 ton.

This tractor overturned on a narrow hill, and although it cannot be seen in  the photograph it was fitted with a fore-loader that had to be removed prior to it's recovery.  With a 2:1 pull from our truck we were able to control the righting of the tractor and control the fall by using the HIAB crane to restrain the tractor as it is lowered to the ground and thus prevent further damage.  The tractor was subsequently taken to a testing station for inspection.  The fore-loader having been loaded onto the back of the accident unit.
